speckled mouse bird. these hang out in small groups in the bouganville (where it is in this pic) or in the bamboo. so usually around here, they're more hidden in the thicket.
bird photography is tough because you're almost always looking up, giving you have the backlight of the sky to contend with. not to mention that my longest lens is 135mm so i have to get pretty close.
this one worked out well because the speckled mouse bird has that tufty crown so it lit up in the low sun backlight, plus there were some darker leaves that i could put it against.
