grey crowned crane - uganda's national bird

    maybe there are a lot of potholes here and the level of corruption is equaled only by the level of bureaucracy, but uganda definitely nailed it when they chose their national bird. they are awesome. all the national sports teams are named the cranes, too, which i think is pretty cool.

    i've seen them many times, but not so often in the context of a game drive where i was in position to get some decent photos. so it was nice that these two didn't spook when we drove in to get a good look.

    i like their color against the light grass.
