now you see me, now you don't

  1. the chickadees are always moving. after shooting skiing with a markII n for the past week, i was sure missing the eight frames a second. probably 2/3 of my chickadee pictures had them in some stage of spreading their wings for flight.

    since i wasn't close enough to fill the frame with the bird (even at 448mm equivalent if i were using a full-frame 35mm sensor...birds are small) i decided to frame the bird at the bottom and just put some neutral grey up top. i like the composition.

    these two photos had to go together. fun to see the exploding snow, even the airborne sunflower seed husk. and an interesting visual example of how quick they are even at five frames a second.
