last night paige's workshop hosted a dinner for all the participants which included a two-hour program of traditional music and dancing from a local troupe. they were amazing and i definitely hope we get the opportunity to see more of them.
i brought my new lens, 70-200mm f/2.8 with image stabilization. i wanted to see how well it and the IS really worked in the dark, and i didn't want my wide angle because the backgrounds aren't too interesting on the rooftop patio of the hotel africana.
the dancers were ACTIVE, and image stabilization doesn't do anything to stop action when you're dealing with long exposures but even so, i managed to get a few nicely-blurred images without flash when they weren't moving too fast.
without a tripod, i think this lens will be a lot more useful than even my f/2 135mm for low or no-light situations.
i give notes and commentary on all of my photos in the comments section. click thegreenpost title to show that photo with my comments below. please add your own comments or critiques and thanks for checking in! -phil
