i always thought that storks were clean and white and deposited cloth-wrapped babies on your doorstep. not so in kampala. marabou storks look like an avian grim reaper or the skeksis from the dark crystal. at night they fill the trees, here lit by a hotel africana floodlight.
this photo is a great example of what the IS on my new lens can do. the rule of thumb to prevent camera shake in photos when hand-holding is that your shutter speed in seconds should be 1/focal length. my zoom was at 135mm for this shot so the shutter speed should be 1/135th of a second to produce a sharp image. this shot was 4/10ths of a second.
