f/1.4 makes this a great night lens. it's not super-duper sharp wide open, but plenty good, especially when sharpness isn't the object. it was too dark for the auto focus to work and i couldn't quite see through the viewfinder either so i don't quite have the focus right on seth, where i was aiming.
mostly i was interested in getting the lights on the balcony and the blur receding in to the background. as it turned out, i wouldn't really change anything about this image.
