after posting this i'm reminded that these panoramas look a lot cooler when seen at full size. you can still get a good idea of what's going on if you look at the big image 1600 px wide, but it's actually nearly 10000 px full size. it will print up nice.
that said, there's probably a technique and a subject matter for taking cool panoramas that play well at the size of a computer screen.
this is taken from kololo, the hill most of the ambassadors live on. looking more or less south.
