    We took morning boat ride on the Nile, getting on the water just at sunrise. We have done a number of afternoon boat trips heading towards the Murchison Falls, but this morning trip is a new setup - just us and the guide in a little outboard. $40 gets you the boat and they'll take up to four people. Not bad.

    We puttered up and down the opposite bank of the Nile with the sun at our backs looking for birds and monkeys. Our guide was really good and the early morning light couldn't be beat.

    From top to bottom is a Goliath Heron, Common Squacco Heron, Purple Heron (first time photos for this one), and a Grey Heron.

    This trip plus a 400mm lens would yield some amazing bird photos.
