absolutely my full-on favorite ski photography conditions. an uphill crest with low, direct sun and a shadowed background. this spot nailed it. add to that i had three laps to shoot, and our athletes were rarely stuck behind other skiers. made for plenty of good opportunities to get some good images.
for V1 technique, i'm getting pretty good at squeezing off 3 shots for each poling action. there's only a part of the technique that looks good, and this is it. just around the time of the pole plant.
that way i can get lots of good shots without just holding down the trigger and filling up the camera memory buffer.
